OUR STORY

the beginning...

Since 1990, Gary and Kathy Stebbins has been offering a little Texas roadhouse type beer joint where you can get a juicy burger and a longneck while listening to live music or tossing horseshoes in the pits out front. The walls are decorated with all manner of Texan, from spurs collections to arrowheads, not to mention an extensive assortment of beer and soda promotions that vary in age and condition. A collection of wooden pulleys hangs over the end of the bar, while a few animal heads fight for space near the ceiling with old tools of every sort. Every time you come in here, you see something different.

Behind the bar: Only beer and wine are sold, but you can bring your own bottle and buy setups from the bar. The beer list is made up of regional favorites from Shiner Bock and Lone Star to Coors Light and Corona, while the wines are the ubiquitous Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Cabernet.

Who comes here: The low-key crowd is largely made up of locals, but it has being discovered by folks from all over the place. The list of regulars includes well-heeled motorcycle groups from San Antonio as well as Hamburger lovers from far and near. It’s a family atmosphere.

Munchies: One of Texas 46’s strenghts is its extensive menu. Start with the Fried Pickle Chips and Ranch Dressing, before moving on to one of the many Angus Beef Burgers with a side of Onion Rings. The 46 Special, for example comes topped with Monterey Jack, Sour Cream and Green Chiles. Sandwiches include the Chicken Mushroom Burger, BLT, Chicken-Fried Steak, and even a PB&J. There are Salads, Frito Pies, Chili Cheese Fries and Nachos.

Fun and Games: A 72” TV is at one end of the bandstand and is tuned into the latest sporting events. There’s a smaller TV at the other end of the building that hangs over one of the two pool tables. No one under 18 is allowed to play pool, but kids can drop some quarters in the video games that fill a small corner. Two horseshoe pits are in front under a copse of oak trees.

Soundtrack: The music is largely country-western with live acts on Friday and Saturday nights and a jukebox for the rest of the time. Please check our Event Page for more details.
